| Virtual Gallery Tour We will have our next edition of the Virtual Gallery Tour on the last Wednesday this month 26th May at 6pm EAT/ 5pm CET online via GZK YouTube Channel in cooperation with PILOTENKUECHE from Leipzig, Germany and Seyna Arts Gallery in Entebbe, Uganda. This time we have a parental-children special. We will discuss how it feels to be an artist kid, how the parents complement or criticize their work. Do artists children have an advantage in the art scene because of their parents? Also, the artists’ parent will share their point of view and get engaged in the discussion. How do they feel when their children get criticized or complemented in public? Did they expect their children to also become an artist? Of course, the intercultural differences between Uganda and Germany will be also touched on and focused on in in the discussion. About the German artists Maren Maxeiner is an opera singer, lecturer and a singing teacher from Germany. Since April 2010 she’s a lecture in singing at the University of Music and Theatre and 2016 Maren started teaching at the conservatory in Rostock. With her specific knowledge of the anatomy of the voice, her empathy and her experience as an artist, she’s trying to encourage each student to trust their own intuition and body in order to sound. Noah Maxeiner is a painter, performer and musician based in Leipzig. At the moment Noah is a local participant of Pilotenkueches 47th round. As a painter he’s trying to connect all his interests and different artistic rudiments to refer to a specific feeling or condition by picking up real life events and capturing the thought process in a painterly way as ‘Picturesque Relections’. About the Ugandan artists Charles Kamya is a self-taught sculptor working in Kampala. At the age of 15 he started making furniture from a tree root which he randomly found in the garden at his home. His talents were noticed by John Keller who owed a gallery café in Kampala in 1998. John gave him more specialized tools and space in his studio and encouraged him to continue to improve his sculpting practice. Nabulime Victoria is currently studying Art and Design at Nagenda International Academy of Art and Design. Growing up in a very artistic environment. Victoria showed interest in art at the age of 5. She started with small drawings of faces and flowers on paper in her father’s studio. Victoria has unique style of painting. Her subjects are mostly females. She has participated in four group exhibitions and two art residencies. |
